London, eyyy??

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.
A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.
A unique woman like you needs a city that offers everything.
No wonder you and London will get along so well.

So, I belong in London according to this survey. I guess I'll be the judge of that when I visit this year. This makes me look forward to my trip even more!!! *smile*

Just for the sake of being cute...

I had to post this photo just because I think it's cute! This was a photo taken by my girlfriend Kristin of myself and another girlfriend Angie. We were at a watering hole having some drinks after ditching a concert and scalping our tickets. This was just the beginning of a very fun evening and one of many more to come this year, I'm sure.

I told Angie that I think she's my 'cute photo' good luck charm because we always look so darn beautiful when we're photographed together. Just thought I'd share it because it's rare that you find photos of yourself you actually think are nice, right?

Have a great week... Nat

Treadmill Brilliance!!!

Ok, I saw this video the other day on MTV and I thought it was a great idea. I like the song too, but this is definitely a must see because I think they did a smart job on the treadmill choreography!

Hangin' with my peeps..

Ohhhhhhhhhhh good ole' holiday weekend. MLK has brought people together again.. *smile*

My girls and I hung out both Friday and Saturday night and we had a ball. We went out and had dinner and drinks in DC and then headed to Adams Morgan for some live reggae at Ghana Cafe. After shutting that place down at 3am, we stopped into the McDonalds to get something to drink and yet again, there was a DJ in there. Jamel decided to take the following video survey of how others felt about it, this is hilarious:

This is the picture of Hasaan (he's the one with the locks), the guy I referred to in the video. Jamel and I saw him one night when we were in Adams Morgan and he was one of the DJ's. I just had to snap a photo for proof. He didn't want me to.. Embarassed much??? I think so!! HA

The next night we went to a club called Apex for a drag show. It was fun and entertaining as the last time we went and our friend Peter joined us. He's a CHARACTER, believe me when I tell u! We went to hang out at the coffee house next door after we left the club and as Nicole and Peter were at the ATM machine a guy came out of the restroom looking rather guilty, so they decided to go see what he did and the following video was a result of that encounter... Prepare yourself!!!

We had a blast and that's all I can say.. Love my peeps and looking forward to what else the year will bring with them!! Smiles!!!

Blind Date Parody..

I've always been a fan of the show Blind Date because of the captions they throw up on the screen and all the craziness that happens on the dates. Even if you're not into the show, I'd suggest that you watch the 'Blind Date: Uncensored' DVD's, it's so worth it. They are absolutely HILARIOUS!!

Well, my girl Jamelly-Mel shared this parody with me today and it's so damn hilarious, I would be remiss if I didn't share it with all of you. Prepare yourself to die laughing. It's out of control FUNNY!!!!

My MS friend Ben...

I have a Myspace friend named Ben and his handle is 'Ben tha honky'. Anyone that truly knows me knows that I affectionately refer to my best friend Eric as 'my honky', so the handle makes me laugh.

I bring Ben up because he is one of the funniest people I've met on myspace and constantly makes me laugh with the gifs he creates/modifies and inserts himself into. I check his page on a regular to see what new creations he's come up with and they always crack me up. He has this photo of himself with this goofy grin on his face and he inserts that photo into other gifs and it's simply hilarious.

So in homage to Ben, I am posting some of the funny gifs he's created for your pleasure and enjoyment.. I think some of them will crack you up, if for nothing else, out of sheer stupidity!

I present... Tha honky!!! lol

Gastric Bypass and the aftermath..

I have to be honest and say that I was actually considering looking into this procedure for a period of time. The issue is that you don't learn how to conquer the issues you have with food and there's a real risk of developing other addictions, like alcoholism for example. The other issue is the fact that everyone that I've seen who have had this procedure have a terrible aged and loose skin look that's simply not attractive. There are plastic surgery procedures that can address these things, but who wants surgery after surgery? And overall, you just look older if you do it this way as opposed to the good ole fashioned 'work out & lifestlye change' method. I think I'll take tha ladder.

I present Star Jones as a good example to illustrate my point on this. I think she looks horrible now. There is no doubt that she needed to have some sort of emergency intervention because she was morbidly obese and it was a health issue. She is someone that had the financial resources to have the follow-up plastic surgery necessary to reshape her breasts and remove the excess skin, but even after all of that, I think she still looks a mess. I came across these photos of her from a party she attended in honor of Vivica Fox and a couple other photos. She just doesn't look cute and she looks so aged/old, IMO.

What's your take on it? I'd love to know!!!

I love New York...

O.............. K.............. I'm so incredibly speechless. The premiere of Vh1's, 'I love New York' aired last night. I knew I'd be watching Tiffany's aka New York's show, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to breathe while watching it. If last night was any indication of what the season will be like, I'm scared of what is to come. Between the guy that keeps talking about the tragic death of his dog named Princess which he follows up with the fact that this means he's destined to be with New York who he'll treat like a princess (watch the following preview and you'll see him talking about his princess obsession) and the gay personal assistant/stylist named Chamo, I'm gonna die!!!!

And really, can we discuss her mother?????????????? Why does she look like a cross dressing KLINGON!!! WTF????? If you don't believe me, check this out:

New York & Mom:

Klingon:

Here's the true comparison, the side-by-side shot:
Now tell me her mom doesn't look just like a klingon if you added the wrinkles to her nose and massive forehead?????? Ya can't say otherwise, now can ya??? LMBAO

And honestly, I would like Chamo to help New York with her hair. He's supposed to be her stylist and personal assistant, so he needs to help her with her stylo!!! Bless her heart, her hair always looks a hot mess. She needs to go natural and just rock a fro, ya can't go wrong with that!!!

I think that regardless how outrageous this show will be, I'll be hooked just like I was with Flavor of Love. It's just too stupid to miss. These guys seem like they're going to provide the best entertainment, if for no other reason than the fact that they're pursuing this crazy woman. Ya just can't make this stuff up, ya know?? lol

Poetry...

I was thinking about the fact that I have yet to find a good man to have in my life. I was also thinking about my life in general and the direction I want it to go in, as opposed to the direction it has been going. So since I'm feeling a bit melancholy, I thought I'd share the following poems by Nikki Giovanni that sum up what I'm feeling at the moment....

Cotton candy on a rainy day...
Don't look now
I'm fading away
Into the gray of my mornings
Or the blues of every night

Is it that my nails
keep breaking
Or maybe the corn
on my second little piggy
Things keep popping out
on my face or of my life

It seems no matter how I try
I become more difficult to hold
I am not an easy woman to want

They have asked the psychiatrists . . . psychologists . . .
politicians and social workers
What this decade will be known for

There is no doubt . . . it is loneliness

Choices...
If i can't do what i want to do
then my job is to not
do what i don't want to do

It's not the same thing
but it's the best i can do

If i can't have what i want . . .
then my job is to want what i've got
and be satisfied
that at least there
is something more to want

Since i can't go
where i need to go . . .
then i must . . .
go where the signs point
through always understanding
parallel movement isn't lateral

When i can't express
what i really feel
i practice feeling
what i can express
and none of it is equal

I know but that's why mankind
alone among the animals
learns to cry

Thierry Le Goues

I have been newly inspired by Thierry Le Goues. As a photographer, I look for inspiration and I came across this book and absolutely fell in love with this photogrpher. He's a model/fashion photographer born in France and currently residing in New York.

His photos are absolutely exquisite. I have been inspired to pick up my camera again and do some work. I have been so busy in life that I haven't made time to do any photo shoots and I am now inspired beyond belief. I plan on purchasing his book entitled simply "Soul", which is where I pulled the photos for the slide show from. I hope you enjoy the work of this brilliant photographer as much as I am.

WOW!

Happy 1yr Lociversary to ME!!!

So here it is., a year of locks! I have to say that I have truly enjoyed the journey thus far. I remember so many people advising me and telling me that I was going to love the process, but I was hesitant, albeit determined. I went into this journey with fears, but I was more excited than anything else. Looking back now on the past year of ups and downs, I have to say that I've learned so much about myself and my strength.

I've always considered myself a rebel to a certain degree, so this process has enriched that side of myself. Going against the grain is so much damn fun (devious smile)!!! I look forward to what this new year will bring into my life and how my locs will grow and build even more character in me. I have grown from this process and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I have finally begun to see my own beauty. That is something you can't put a price on. I'm even smiling more these days, despite my inner fears and insecurities.

This journey has enriched my life thru some of the people that it's brought to me. I started organizing 'Nappy/Naptural' gatherings and I've met women that bring me so much joy. I have forged friendships that I can't imagine my life without at this point. Dare I say that I probably would have never met these women had I not started locking.

I truly look forward to the future with a glimmer in my eyes and happiness in my heart. The Locking process has been a true journey and my journey continues. I look forward to year two and more growth in all aspects of my life.

The year in locs:

Happy New Year!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
So we have entered 2007 and I, for one, am looking forward to what this new year will bring. I greeted the new year at the Cuban Embassy in DC enjoying the music, family feeling, and love in the room. It was a great vibe and I truly enjoyed myself.

To all of you that I know and love, I wish you the happiest of new years. I hope that you prosper and I wish all that you wish for yourself this year. I look forward to spending time with you and deepening our relationships.

Love you all and I hope this is a wonderful year for all of us!

Smooches and lots of love.... Nat
