'The Traffic Jam'

I've been in love with Stepen Marley for some time, so you can imagine that I'm pretty excited about his new album coming out next spring. In my humble opinion, of all the Marley siblings, he reminds me the most of Bob because of his voice, his style of singing, the way he carries himself, etc.

One of my favorite songs is the collaboration he did with Erykah Badu entitled 'In Love With You' off of her Mama's Gun CD. It was one of the best love songs I've ever heard and I'm mad that a lot of people have never heard it, but I digress.

I've attached one of the new tracks off of Stephen's up and coming CD release for your enjoyment called 'The Traffic Jam'. Can't wait to hear more!!!!

Enjoy...

My favorite things..

I think one of my recent favorite things is the Lytle family. I feel like they're a treasure that god sent into my life. I feel a true and sincere sister frienship with Jamel and therefore feel like I'm part of the family. Her husband and son make me feel just as welcome as she does.

She has also been taking care of my most precious and biggest responsibility, my niece Aishah. I love the fact that she cares for my niece like she's her own and makes her so happy on a day-to-day basis. I couldn't ask for more right now.

Jamie, Jamel, and Jacob... you guys are the cutest family and the love that you share with each other is shared with others. I'm just happy I'm in that circle of people that you hold dear because the feeling is definitely mutual!

Party at the Lytle's!

We had a welcome home bash for one of Jamel's uncles, but it became a party for us.. lol.

I had a blast and I hope that all my peeps have a happy holiday and that the coming year brings you all that you hope for in your deepest inner thoughts!

Love you all....

PS - Vicki, I was soooooo happy to see you and Miguel. Thanks so much for coming out and hanging out with us. I hope you had a great time!

Daydream..

I love this new video by Lupe Fiasco featuring Jill Scott, so I thought I'd post it for those of you that haven't heard it or seen the video...

Enjoy...

Holiday lunch with the co-workers!

My team of co-workers went to lunch for the holidays and exchanged gag gifts! I didn't get a good gag gift cause I got a candle. It was a great candle, but I would have preferred something funny, but that's just me.

Had a good time regardless. Anytime is a good time for laughter. Happy holidays to my co-workers and I hope you guys have a wonderful new year as well!

My nappy friends and I went out for sushi and fun Saturday night. We had an absolutely fun night as I'm sure the photos show! It's great to have a group of ladies in your life that you can just go out with and know that there won't be any drama, nor will it be a boring night!

You ladies are my hommies.. I loved that I met you and look forward to more good times! See you at Soulsa on Wednesday night!! *smile*

'I don't need no Education'

I know, I know, the subject has a double negative, but it proves the point of the following messages.

I know we all have stories like this and it would be great to hear yours if you have any to add/share... It's always good to have a good laugh at stupid people (bless their dumb ass hearts).

Life is tough..
It's tougher if you're STUPID!!!!

ONE:
Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets. "We don't have half dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter. "You don't?" I replied. "We only have six, nine, or twelve," was the reply. "So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?" "That's right." So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets.

TWO:
I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those "dividers" that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "divider", looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan i t. Not finding the bar code she said to me, "Do you know how much this is?" I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today." She said "OK," and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.

THREE:
A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy."

FOUR:
I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. "Do you need some help?" I asked. She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?" "Hmmm, I dunno. Do you have an alarm, too?" I asked. "No, just this remote thingy," she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk."

FIVE:
Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, "I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?" "Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies.

SIX:
A mother calls 911 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her kid to the emergency room, the kid was eating ants. The dispatcher tells her to give the kid some Benadryl and should be fine, the mother says, I just gave him some ant killer..... Dispatcher: Rush him in to emergency!

Bad morning????

We just had an ice storm the other day in this area, so this commercial is pretty appropriate and I thought I'd share it.

If this were me, I'd turn around and go back in my house and go back to bed!

New York, New York...

Ok, I admit that Flavor of Love was a guilty pleasure of mine. One of the highlights of both seasons was crazy as a loon Tiffany, a.k.a. New York. Watching both her and Flava Flav is like watching a train wreck, you know it's horrible to watch, but you just can't look away.

She is now working on her own show called 'I love New York' where 20 men vie for her affection and love. I already know that this show will be like crack for me and I'll be watching, cause u just can't make this stuff up really!

I received an email the other day with the attached photos of New York's new 'babies'. Why, oh why, did she have to go and get implants? And if she felt she needed a bit of help, why did she have to get them so freakishly large? I'm appalled and flabbergasted and she looks even more of a hot mess than she did before. Bless her heart, there's just no hope for her. When you have a mother that looks like a cross dresser and a father that looks like a retired wanna-be pimp, I guess you just don't feel you have a lot of options, huh? So sad..... So very sad....

'Say It Right'

I have liked Nelly Furtado since her first album. I think it's interesting that she's becoming so main stream these days, but I guess it was inevitable. I liked every track on her first album and the most recent has a few tracks that I'm really feeling as well.

Her latest release is a track I'm really feeling. It's called 'Say It Right'. It has a feel of 80's music that I loved so much in my formative years. If you haven't heard it, I think you'll like it; let me know what you think. Here's the video for your listening pleasures.

Government Employees..

I've been working as a contractor at government sites for about 7, almost 8yrs now and I've seen some crazy behavior. The whole reason we, as contractors, have jobs is mainly because government employees either don't want to do the work or aren't equipped to do the work. I know there are a lot of stereotypes associated with government employees and their laziness and I'm here to tell you that although it's not true or indicative of all of them, there's a reason and some truth to every stereotype and the same holds true for this one.

I found the following video clips depicting government employees and their attitudes that I found absotively posolutely (absolutely positively.. lol) hilarious. I'm sure u'll get a kick out of them too!!! HA

Things I dislike & like about myself...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I was inspired to analyze myself by a blog entry of a friend, so here goes:

Dislikes:
1. My slight OCD in certain areas of my life...
2. My ability to over-analyze myself and others (although it's normally a great trait, it has it's disadvantages as well... Believe me!).
3. The fact that I get attached to people so easily (again, this can be a good thing, but sometimes it's just painful).
4. My desire to give of myself beyond my means sometimes. I like the fact that I'm a giving and generous person, but I often give until there's nothing left to give and that's not a good thing. I'm attempting to work on that.
5. My inability to say no (I think that's a woman disease in general).
6. My insecurities (I have so many although I hide some very well).
7. My slight hoarder tendencies.. *smile*
8. It's difficult for me to see my beauty sometimes.
9. I'm hard on myself and get very depressed sometimes because of it.
10. I'm a very sensitive person and have been and continue to be hurt a lot by others.

Likes:
1. I'm a very friendly and outgoing person!
2. I value good friends and family and shower them with my love and adulation!
3. I'm a loyal and true friend!
4. I'm very open-minded and realistic!
5. I have dreams that I'm working toward!
6. I'm a photographer and I can see/show the beauty in others that they sometimes don't see in themselves!
7. I'm a good listener and confidant!
8. I'm always evaluating/analyzing myself in an effort to better myself and grow!
9. I love to laugh and make others laugh!
10. I have the ability to be impartial and look at both sides of a situation, even when I feel I've been wronged by others.

I have so many things that I need to work on, but I acknowledge that I'm a work in progress. Every day is a new beginning and an opportunity to make a change in myself. There was a time recently when I didn't feel I had a purpose in life and didn't care if I woke the next morning or not. My attitude was that my presence wouldn't be missed that much if I weren't here. I wasn't suicidal by any stretch, but I was just tired of the struggle of life and I was ready to simply give up. My sister Regine explained to me that what you put out in the universe is what you get in return. So I stopped verbalizing my pain and started to try to be more reflective instead. I can't say that I've found my purpose in life, but at least I'm in a place where I'm willing to search for it again instead of giving up. Lists like this help me to see what is valuable about me and the things I yet have to work on.

'Life is good' - Jamel (I love ya sis!). Thanks for the support and insightful words you shared with me this past weekend. They meant more to me than you realize.

My Company's Holiday Party...

I went to my company's holiday party at the Sheraton in Tyson's Corner and had a great time. My girlfriend Alex joined me and we partied until the last call.

Kisses to Igor (the Italian cutie in the photo with me) for inviting us to his party in the hotel. We were in the elevator with him and since the elevator wouldn't take us to our floor, he insisted we join his company's holiday party. We went along and had some drinks and danced. Their party was swinging and their DJ was MUCH better than ours was.. lol! We had a blast Igor.. Grazie bello!

There's another guy in the photos with Alex and he was begging her for attention. He was Igor's friend (forgive me since I don't recall his name.. lol). He was all over Alex. Guess he figured since they were both from Ecuador that he had a chance. They share the same last name, so I'm convinced they're distant cousins.. FIGHT IT Ali.. FIGHT IT!!!! LMBAO.. hehehehehe. This was Alex's first formal company holiday party and I think she had fun, I know I did.. *smile*
